End of Year Newsletter
A message from Mrs Ward
Dear Parents and Children,
Welcome to our final newsletter for this academic year. Apologies for the delay in sending the newsletter, however I have been waiting for some correspondence to communicate with you regarding Key Stage 2 school dinners.
We have had a very busy but fantastic summer term. As you will be aware we recieved our visit from Ofsted this term and they confirmed that we remain a 'good' school. This is a great achievement and one which governors and staff are delighted with. The inspector spoke positively about all aspects of school life, including the commitment made towards ensure that are children are safe and the progress being made by children.
This term saw the release of our Key Stage 2 SATS results. Children and staff have worked incredibly hard over the last two years to address the demands of the new curriculum and to adequately prepare our children for these assessments. This year our hard work was realised as our results are a huge improvement on those of last year. We are working above national averages in all areas and are particularly impressed with our Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation results and the number of children who were assessed as 'working at greater depth.' I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of staff, the children and you as parents for your support this year.
We say a very sad goodbye to our Year 6 children this term as they leave us to move onto secondary school. I know you will all join me in wishing them lots of happiness and success in their new school, please remember them in your prayers.
We also say farewell to Mrs Cullen after almost 25 years of service at St Michael's. Mrs Cullen is retiring and we thank her for her dedication to the children of St Michael's and wish her a long and happy retirement. We also say a temporary goodbye to Mrs Thompson who leaves us to begin her maternity leave; we await news of Baby Thompson...
Finally I would like to wish you all a very happy and restful summer holiday.
See you all on Tuesday 5th September at 8:40am.
