St Michael'sCatholic Primary School

Music

Music plays a very important part in the life of the school.  Weekly singing assemblies ensure that the children learn to sing a variety of hymns and songs, which are performed during masses, liturgies, assemblies and various school concerts.

We aim to deliver all the national curriculum requirements for music in a variety of ways which includes singing, playing musical instruments, composing, performing, learning about the life and works of famous composers and listening and appreciating different styles or genres of music.

Year 4, 5 and Year 6 children receive whole-class Ukulele sessions once a week this year which has replaced the Every Child A Musician Programme.  We also offer keyboard tuition to children in years 3-6 provided by Newham Music Academy music tutors.

Our school choir performs regularly in the community and takes part in various concerts and events throughout the year such as Young Voices and the Water-city Music Festival.
